Origami Flowers: Popular Blossoms and Creative Bouquets

Origami as a hobby is great. It releases stress, it engages the mind, it exercises the arm muscles, it increases hand-eye coordination. It is certainly a hobby that I would encourage people to take up if they are interested in creating things out of sheets of paper.

If you like the flowers from my site (www.floralorigami.com), then I am sure you will enjoy the book "Origami Flowers: Popular Blossoms and Creative Bouquets".This book is more for the intermediate origami artist. There are a few patterns that are for the beginning origami artist, but most require more skill as I have noticed some minor folds are not mentioned.

If you are an intermediate origami artist, then this book is great if you want to start folding origami flowers. The author presents patterns that are very true to life. An excellent book!

How To Make An Origami Rose (Kawasaki Rose)

I did a video of me folding an origami rose with the kawasaki method. I like this method because it only requires one sheet of paper. I know some other methods require several sheets of paper to get the layering effect. But with the kawasaki method, only one sheet of square paper gives you the layering of the rose petals very nicely.

Here is the video. Sorry for the static noise, this was my first video. I will have to experiment with the sound later. Hope this is helpful to some of you.

Origami Star Flower

From Floral Origami
Origami star flowers are very cute. This particular yellow star flower has 5 petals. I made it with one sided colored paper, so it's white on the bottom and yellow on top.

The leaves I made from construction paper. The paper has a nice texture to it and it curls nicely like natural leaves do.

I made my star flower from 6 inch paper, which will produce a 3.5" flower. A decent size.

I love how they look inside small tabletop vases. They make great accent arrangements.

I have these flowers for sale at $2.69 per flower.

They are available here: www.floralorigami.com

3 Reasons to Use Origami Flowers for Weddings

Origami flowers are excellent for weddings!

The three top reasons to use origami flowers for weddings are:

1. Origami flowers can match most any color scheme.

2. No need to worry about guests and allergies to flowers. Origami flowers are hypo-allergenic.

3. Save money by not needing a flower preservationist afterwards. Your flowers stay looking great long after your special day.

Why Use Paper Origami Flowers?

Using origami paper flowers has its benefits.

For one, they are hypo-allergenic. Both to people and their pets. I have two cats, and I know some flowers are extremely poisonous to cats, so being able to have paper flowers is ideal. I don't worry about my cats being poisoned if they decide to ingest part of the flower. And because it's paper, it holds less of an attraction for them anyways.

Another excellent reason is that these flowers require a minimum of care and won't wilt. All you need to do to care for them is to place them in a vase and put the vase where you can enjoy it. That's all they require, and maybe the occasional dusting . . .

Yet another reason is that the flowers can come in all sorts of colors, even colors that don't naturally occur in nature and these flowers are always in season. If your event calls for blue and purple flowers, or gold and silver flowers, origami paper flowers can fit the bill.

There's no need to worry if the flowers will stay fresh for that special event, they will last well beyond the event. They can be kept as a memento of that special occasion.
